Andhra Pradesh has once again showcased its commitment to cleanliness and urban development by clinching several accolades in the Swachh Sarvekshan-2023 awards. The state’s commendable achievements include four national awards and an additional state-level recognition, solidifying its reputation as a leader in cleanliness initiatives.
One of the standout accomplishments for AP is securing the title of the cleanest city in South India. This distinction is further exemplified by individual city rankings on the national stage. Specifically, Guntur Alindia secured the second rank, followed by Greater Visakhapatnam Alindia at the fourth position, Vijayawada Alindia ranking sixth, and Tirupati Alindia clinching the eighth spot. These rankings underscore the state’s concerted efforts in fostering cleanliness across various urban centers.
Minister Adimulapu Suresh attributed these achievements to the visionary leadership and dedication of Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. He emphasized that the success of the Clean AP (CLAP) program stands as a testament to the state government’s commitment to urban development and cleanliness. Minister Suresh also highlighted the resolution of challenges faced by sanitation workers, noting their return to work following a period of disruption due to strikes.
Furthermore, Tirupati Municipal Corporation’s recognition with the ‘Safaimitra Suraksha Seher’ award for exemplary sanitation labor practices at the national level in 2022 further accentuates AP’s commitment to ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment for its residents.
