AP High Court called for a review on Amaravati status

Andhra Pradesh government is evading the Amaravati capital issue and the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is still focusing on defusing the capital cities, in spite of the AP High Court’s judgment on Amaravati capital. Farmers who belong to the Amaravati region have lodged a new petition in the High Court, intimating that the YCP directorate is entangled in contempt of court.

The farmers’ petition reads that the state government is intentionally postponing to impose the judgment of the High Court quoting deficiency of financial resources. So, the High Court has called the AP government to submit a report on Amaravati’s status, after considering the petition.

The High Court said that the AP government cannot scrap the project to enhance Amaravati as the capital city after over 33,000 acres had been given up by farmers. The court also repudiated the obliteration of the Capital Region Development Authority Act as a radical impediment to the YCP government. Reports convey that the government is likely to approach the Supreme Court of India over the HC’s judgment, but there is no official confirmation so far.

Anyway, the YCP government has got two months time to frame the report to submit it to HC, as the court has postponed the hearing to the 12th of July.
