EESL has agreed in principle to supply LED bulbs, LED tube lights and energy-efficient fans at cost-effective prices to AP state housing corporation to distribute these to beneficiaries of the houses built under the Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu scheme. The CEO of EESL said that the company has plans to sign an MoU with AP state housing corporation to supply EE appliances. The AP state energy efficiency development corporation, a joint venture of AP power utilities, would act as the project management consultancy.

It is said by Ajay Jain that the housing department would distribute 4 LED bulbs, 2 LED tube lights, 2 energy energy efficient fans to each beneficiary, which would help save around 734 units of energy per house per annum. Around 17.24 lakhs out of the total 21.25 lakh houses were grounded so far, under the Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu scheme. The government spent Rs 4163 crore this financial year towards material components such as cement, steel, sand and other materials and for payment to the beneficiaries.
