The first assignment for India and South Africa after the Indian Premier League is going to be commenced from June. Yesterday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule and venues for a 5-match T20I series that will be held between the two countries.
The T20I series is taking place on June 9, as the IPL 2022 final is slated to be hosted on May 29. The first T20I series will happen at the Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi. The rest of the series will be organized by Bengaluru, Cuttack, Rajkot, and Visakhapatnam.
On the first day of the T20I series, i.e., on June 9th, the two countries will face each other in Delhi. While the second T20I series will take place on June 12th in Cuttack. The third T20I will be held on June 14th in Vizag. The fourth T20I is scheduled to take place on June 17th in Rajkot. And the 5th T20I will be held on June 19th in Bengaluru.
There is the most possibility for Rohit Sharma to lead India in the 5-match T20I series as the Asian giants restart their journey towards this year’s T20 World Cup, which is going to be held in October-November in Australia. India, under the guidance of Rohit Sharma, has been miraculous in the shortest format of the game since the T20 WC tournament wherein the side was knocked out in the Super 12 stages.
