In a big blow to Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), its senior leader from undivided Nalgonda district and former MP of Bhongir Bura Narsaiah Goud joined BJP. Goud, was seen as close confidante of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. But he took the surprise step to ditch TRS and join BJP, as he did not get TRS ticket for Munugode bye polls.
Bura Narsaiah Goud won as Bhongir MP in 2014 and played a key role in undivided Nalgonda district politics. But he lost to Congress senior leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy in 2019 general elections. When Munugode bye election became necessity after resignation of Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, former MP tried to contest as TRS candidate. He made several efforts to get TRS candidature but failed. He even supported dissidents meeting against TRS candidate and former MLA Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy.
Inspite of several efforts KCR chose Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy over Bura Narsaiah Goud. Miffed, Narsaiah Goud shifted to BJP. Interestingly, Goud was on the side of TRS candidate Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy when latter filed nomination.
