After grabbing power to rule Andhra Pradesh, the chief minister of the state YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has elected volunteers from every corner of the state and allotted each person for every 50 houses to look over welfare schemes that are being employed by the beneficiaries. And, the beneficiaries are extensively dependent on them.
Now, ahead of assembly elections of AP in 2024, the Election Commission has passed a rule to the chief minister Jagan that volunteers should no longer take part in election activities. According to the recent order issued by the Election Commission, all the returning officers and election staff are instructed to view to it that volunteers are not a part of the election activities in AP hereon.
So, the fresh order from EC mainly rejects the volunteers who have the data of the common public for electoral benefits, while the government might have planned to use them. This is certainly a huge shock being faced by Jagan from the Election Commission.
