Story

Sai Pallavi, who played as Gargi is a school teacher. She leads a pleasant life in Hyderabad. Her father (RS Shivaji), a security guard, is accused of raping a girl child in an apartment he works in. Police arrest him and being helpless, Gargi fights for justice and seeks the help of an advocate Gireeshan Kappaganthula (Kaali Venkat) with no prior experience. The rest of the story defines whether Gargi wins the case or not and how does an inexperienced advocate defend the case.

Review

The main highlight in Gargi movie is nothing but the narration which represents the character of Gargi in a high standard. Sai Pallavi executes her outstanding acting skills with an abundance of emotion and vigorous action. She plays a middle-class woman that suits well to her body language. Kaali Venkat as an advocate has also done justice to his role.

The director has well framed the court scenes that deliver a decent message to a brutal society in these days. He presented his action well as an inexperienced lawyer with an unstoppable perseverance. Other actors like Jayaprakash, RS Shivaji and Aishwarya Lakshmi have performed well.

The first half of the film is quite simple and pleasant to perceive, but when it comes to the second half, it is completely dragged and there are some repeated sequences as well. Aishwarya Lakshmi plays as a journalist and her character is shown just like a cameo role.

Technical Aspects

Govind Vasantha’s music is out of the world and it takes some of the subject-oriented sequences to next level. Cinematography done by Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkatu is nice. Shafique Mohammad Ali’s editing is also fine. And remaining all the technical aspects are good. The director Gautham Ramachandran has executed a nice story that narrates about women and the problems they face in the society. But he fails to bring out the essence of the story a bit.

Overall Review

The overall review of the film says Gargi is the best movie in Sai Pallavi’s career, and it is also touted as the best film of 2022 in the Tamil region.
