The Arbor Day Foundation and FAO-UN (Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations Organisation) have recognized Hyderabad as one of the best Tree Cities in the world, for planting 3,50,56,635 trees by 500 volunteer hours. This is the second time to acquire the award honorably.
Similarly, in 2021, Hyderabad is the only city in India to have been picked out for this recognition by its decision to maintain urban forestry. But now, along with Hyderabad, Mumbai has also acquired recognition for its perseverance in growing plants and maintaining urban trees.
Not only are these two cities from India but also a total of 136 other cities from 21 countries are also on the list of achievers of this award. Among them, 37 cities are from the United States, 18 are from Canada, and the other 18 cities belong to the United Kingdom. All these countries have shown dedication towards the protection of the environment by planting and growing greenery, which is a significant source for the inhabitants to grow with sufficient needs.
