Indian school children in the UAE are actively involved in preparing “tiny treasure” stones to be gifted during the inauguration of the first stone Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. These stones, meticulously painted by the children, will serve as memoirs for guests attending the ceremony, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Hindu temple marks a significant milestone as the first traditional Hindu stone temple in the UAE.

The children have dedicated their Sundays to “stone seva” at the temple site for the past three months, with the final touches being added to the “tiny treasures.” For them, this activity is not just a creative endeavor but also a meaningful experience of teamwork and community involvement. Each stone is adorned with motivational quotes on one side and depictions of the temple on the other, adding a personal touch to the gifts.

The temple, situated in Abu Mureikhah near Al Rahba, represents a grand architectural marvel spread across 27 acres of land donated by the UAE government. It stands as a testament to the cultural and religious diversity embraced by the UAE. Prime Minister Modi’s visit to inaugurate the temple underscores the strong ties between India and the UAE, with a significant Indian community contributing to the nation’s workforce.

The intricate craftsmanship of the temple’s facade, featuring marble carvings against a sandstone backdrop, reflects the dedication of skilled artisans from Rajasthan and Gujarat. With over 25,000 pieces of stone meticulously crafted, the temple stands as a symbol of peace, love, and harmony. As preparations for the grand opening continue, the “tiny treasure” stones crafted by the children serve as poignant reminders of the historic event and the unity it represents.
