The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will leave for Delhi today and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to brief the central leaders on his Davos tour and also discuss matters like the release of central funds to the state.
Jagan will depart for Delhi at 11.10 am from Gannavaram airport and come back to the state on Friday. Earlier, he met the prime minister on April 5 and discussed various issues of the state. Later, the Centre had raised the state’s borrowing limit. Additionally, Jagan would also discuss the presidential and vice-presidential elections with Modi and Amit Shah and plead for a further easing of the burrowing limit for AP.
As per sources, Jagan might also consider the pros and cons of other issues of importance to the state, apart from issues related to additional borrowings and the revised expenditure for Polavaram. The chief minister may request the Centre to increase the state’s net borrowing ceiling for the present financial year in the backdrop of the row over the state’s towering debt burden and unaccounted loans.
The fresh borrowing limit is yet to be finalized by the Centre, thereby limiting the state’s scope for raising loans from the open market. The finance minister of Andhra Pradesh Buggana Rajendranath and top finance officials have been meeting the Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman regularly but without much help. The chief minister will also ask for an instantaneous reimbursement of Rs 13,000 crore for the Polavaram project, for the works that were already accomplished.
