The government has begun Covid vaccination drive for the children who are aged between 12-14, and more than 1.37 lakh children have received the first dose of Corbevax on Wednesday. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also appreciated the government for successfully accomplishing the vaccine administrations for lakhs of children on the very first day of the vaccination program.
Narendra Modi tweeted, “Today is an important day in India’s efforts to vaccinate our citizens. Now onwards, youngsters in the 12-14 age group are eligible for vaccines and all those above 60 are eligible for precaution doses.” Further, he said now the country is in a better position to fight against the pandemic due to the completion of maximum vaccine administrations.
While 80% of the people in the country have got fully vaccinated, over 95% have received at least the first dose of a Covid vaccine. So far, India has inoculated over 180 crore doses, and among them nine crore population are the teens from 15-17 age groups and booster doses were administered for two crore citizens.This is obviously a massive protection for the nation to be safe.
“India’s vaccination endeavours have made the global fight against Covid-19 stronger. In line with India’s ethos of caring for the whole planet, we sent vaccines to various countries”, Modi concluded.
