Maharashtra Govt uproots all Covid curbs completely from Saturday

The government of Maharashtra announced that it has decided to eradicate all the pandemic rules and regulations in the state, starting from the Marathi New Year. It has also been said that even there is not mandatory to wear masks, it is just advised.

A tweet from the office of the state Chief Minister says, “All Covid restrictions in Maharashtra will be lifted, as we bring in the new year this Gudi Padwa!” According to the news informed by the reporters, the Chief Minister of the state Uddhav Thackeray, and the Health Minister Rajesh Tope have decided with one accord to remove all the restrictions completely during a cabinet meeting organized by the Chief Minister.

The state has taken the decision nearly after a couple of years. Currently, an average of 100 Covid cases have been lessened when compared to the previous Covid waves in the state per day and no new deaths have been reported so far. There were 964 active cases across 35 districts on Monday. And some states haven’t reported even a single case since the beginning of the Stealth Omicron surge.

As per the information given by the health department of the state, Maharashtra has reported 78,73,619 Covid cases since the origin of the pandemic, and 1,47,780 fatalities were witnessed by the state. 

Nationwide Covid cases have also reduced over two months. India reported 1,225 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours and the no. of active cases dipped to 14,307. The death toll increased to 5,21,129. The whole country has a number of 4,30,24,440 Covid cases so far.
