In a move, which will infuse the importance of Constitution in young minds, Karnataka Government, has made reading Preamble of the Indian Constitution mandatory in all schools and colleges. By doing so, Siddaramiah-led Congress Government has earned the distinction of being the first state government which made Preamble reading compulsory in educational institutions.
In all schools and colleges we have the practice of reading pledge and singing Vandemataram and national anthem Jana Gana Mana. Now in Karnataka schools, Preamble reading will become part of students daily routine.
Speaking on the decision, Karnataka CM said that Indian Constitution is the guiding light for all Indians and it is the responsibility of every Indian to respect and have knowledge of Constitution. He added that all the rights which people are enjoying today are due to the Constitution of India written by Babasaheb Ambedkar.
