Former cricketer-turned-politician vowed to stand by Congress scion Rahul Gandhi, as the latter is going through a tough phase in his life. Navjoth Singh Siddu got released from jail on Saturday, after spending 10 months jail term over a road rage murder case of 1988.
After his release, Navjoth Singh Siddu interacted with media on the important issues relating to Punjab and Indian democracy.
Saying that democracy is in shackles in India right now, Siddu vowed to stand by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi at this hour of need. He also added that Punjab is the shield of India and some forces are trying to weaken the shield.
Siddu served as Punjab Congress president earlier and has maintained close relationship with Gandhis. However after Congress’s debacle in Punjab Assembly polls, he was jailed
