Due to the cut down in foreign currency reserves, Sri Lanka is putting up a fight against rising inflation and an acute deficiency of essential commodities and fuel. With several ex-cricketers like Arjuna Ranathunga and Sanathan Jayasuriya taking part in public rallies in the country, objections have been raised in opposition to the government. According to ACC sources, the ACC authorities are in touch with the Sri Lanka Cricket board for a long time, who are still in a mood to organize the Asia Cup tournament.
If the SLC cannot host the premier tournament, then the Asian Cricket Council will make a plan to move the Asia Cup out of Sri Lanka. Actually, Sri Lanka had to conduct the 2020 edition of the Asia Cup but ascribed of the pandemic situation, it was delayed twice. The Asia Cup was last held in 2018 in the UAE. It was won by India. But this year, Asia Cup is going to take place in a T20 format as the sides prepared for the T20 World Cup that is scheduled to be held in Australia in the coming months.
