The tourist boat accident at Tanur beach in Malappuram, Kerala shook the nation, as 22 people lost lives till now. The shocking boat accident took place late in the evening at around 7 PM on Sunday, when the boat carrying about 40 people overturned in the beach.
As soon as the news of boat accident reached authorities, rescue operations were launched on a war footing. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Navy and local police are participating in the rescue operations. While about 15 persons have been rescued, search operations are going on for missing people.
What’s shocking is the tourist boat is said to have violated regulations and was overloaded. Most of the victims are children.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao, AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and others expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
