Usually, every YouTube user notices ads at the beginning or the midst of a video. So far, the users witnessed only three ads before start of a video. Now, the social media platform is introducing 5 ads per each video, either at its beginning or in the middle. This is only for free YouTube users but not for the users of YouTube Premium.
The ad can be a single ad or at most two ads and the second ad is skippable. But now, according to reports, all the five ads are unskippable and the users must watch them throughout. It appears that Google is already testing the feature on YouTube and the implementation will begin this month.
There have been numerous grumbles from YouTube free users over the past few days. They took to Reddit and Twitter to convey their frustration. Users now receive 5 unskippable ads instead of 2. Although the users did not say the length of each ad, one of the Twitter users said, “YouTube just gave me 5 long unskippable ads.” This statement says that the ads are lengthy.
YouTube officials have also responded to the complaints from the users, claiming that this situation occurs with what it called ‘bumper ads’. However, the respondents claim that each ad is only 6 seconds long so that 5 ads that users will deal with still do not exceed the regular 30 seconds ads.
The users were asked by the company to send feedback directly from YouTube through the send feedback tool. Google wants to hear from users what they think about the new bumper ads. Unfortunately, none of the ads is skippable and users will have to view through all 5 ads that they possibly have no interest in.
