The ruling YSRC leaders are preparing strategies in order to counter the padayatra initiated by the Amaravati Parirakshana Samiti yesterday. The two-month padayatra programme is holded by the Telugu Desam Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Janasena, CPIM and CPI. The minister of industries and IT, Gudivada Amarnath chaired a conference with the officials of the party on Monday in Visakhapatnam. He discussed the way to keep the farmers away from the opposition-inspired offensive in opposition to the government.
The YSRC leaders are fully alert against the yatra’s influence, as Vizag is the focal point as it is tipped to be the capital and since the Amaravati farmers are opposing it. Immediately after the meeting of leaders, Amarnath said, ” we will campaign strongly for the three capitals and expect assistance from all sections of the society. A clear picture of their counter program would emerge in the following week. The padayatra is likely to reach Anakapalli by October month end.”
According to the sources, the minister would meet the vice chancellor of andhra university to rope in teachers and students for the campaign with the help of the three capitals plan and to oppose the padayatra. Fisheries and Animal husbandry minister Seedari Appalaraju said the government would not be responsible if the people opposed the padayatra directly. The vice president of TDP Pasarla Prasad said, ” we are not expecting any resistance from the ruling party members. The high court has granted permission to hold the rally and it is going to be peaceful. If the ruling party indulges in violence it would be counter productive. “
