Maverick director Mani Ratnam is coming up with historical film Ponniyan Selvan and the movie is all set for release on Sep 30. While it is being made in two parts, Ponniyan Selvan I will be released now. As Ponniyan Selvan movie has a star cast consisting of names like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi and others and being a high budget historical flick, it has naturally become one of the most happening flicks. According to the insiders from South film industry, it is said that Amazon Prime has bagged Ponniyan Selvan movie OTT streaming rights for a fancy amount. It is said that the OTT giant has shelled out close to Rs 125 Cr for the streaming rights of Ponniyan Selvan movie. Though this figure is expected to be for the two parts of the movie, even from that point of view it is a very handsome amount. Though Ponniyan Selvan movie has a big star cast and good content, it is being seen mainly as a Mani Ratnam movie. It has been a long time, since Mani Ratnam delivered a solid hit. But inspite of it, his name is still able to make cash registers ring. He has finally proved with Ponniyan Selvan that that he is still the master.
