Central Health Department Issues Alert Amidst Rising Pneumonia Cases in China.

The Central Health Department has raised concerns about an increase in pneumonia cases in China, particularly affecting young children in many schools in North China who are exhibiting symptoms similar to COVID-19. Small children are reportedly being admitted to hospitals with corona-like symptoms.

In response to the situation, the Health Secretary has issued a letter to states and Union Territories, urging them to remain vigilant and enhance medical facilities. With the onset of the cold season, respiratory diseases are anticipated to rise. The central government reassures that it is actively monitoring the situation across states and union territories and emphasizes that there is no need for panic.

Health Secretary advises a comprehensive review of facilities in hospitals and public health measures within each state. Monitoring and timely reporting of details related to respiratory diseases in children are stressed, with a directive to upload data of registered cases on district and state survey lines units.

As a precautionary measure, samples from children suffering from respiratory diseases are mandated to be sent to virus research and diagnostic laboratories for testing. The central government underscores the importance of collaborative efforts to address the evolving health situation.
