At the beginning of IPL 2022, Chennai Super Kings fought against Kolkata Knight Riders and lost the match, and now, when they faced Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday, they again missed a stroke of luck. This is the first time CSK have lost their first two matches in an Indian Premier League so far.
CSK gave up the ghost to defend 210 against LSGs on Thursday. MS Dhoni announced his decision to walk out as the captain of CSK and handed over his position to Ravindra Jadeja, two days ahead of the ongoing IPL season. Dhoni displayed his ecstasy with a quick half-century against KKR. However, Chennai Super Kings is the 2nd most prosperous team in the IPL ever.
To brief about the match held between CSK and LSG on Thursday, Ms Dhoni got off the mark with a six off Avesh Khan and became the 6th Indian to score 7000 T20 runs. Before the mega auction, CSK had retained Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Ruthuraj Gaikwad, and Moeen Ali.
Dhoni had led CSK to glory in 2021 to add to their previous IPL titles in 2010, 2011, and 2018. The present captain Ravindra Jadeja said his bowlers were required to execute their plans better at the Brabourne Stadium where dew didn’t aid them to perform conveniently.
The ex-captain of the team added, “We had a very good start, Robbie and Shivan Dube were playing extraordinarily. We had a good start, but in the fielding, we have to take catches then you’ll win matches. We should have taken those chances. There was a lot of dew, the ball wasn’t sticking to the hand. Next time, we have to practise with the wet ball. We batted fairly in the top-six and in the middle overs. The wicket was very convenient to bat on. As a bowling unit, we need to execute our plans”, he concluded.
