Pawan Kalyan’s Comment on Salary Triggers Debate

Janasena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has been in the limelight ever since he assumed the role of Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. This time, his comments about salary sparked a debate, as his answer underscored accountability and responsibility.

While meeting with Jana Sena representatives a few days ago, Pawan Kalyan said, “I will take my full salary from the government as an MLA because it reminds me constantly that I am spending the people’s money. People have every right to question me for every rupee I earn as a salary. If we don’t work, then people should question us about why we are not doing the job while drawing salaries from their tax money. That fear of taking the people’s money as salary will drive me to work diligently.” Those remarks had gone viral at that time, and there was a lot of discussion about that.

Now, Pawan Kalyan’s comments about his remuneration have gone viral once again. NTR Bharosa Pension distribution program is currently in progress in Andhra Pradesh. The Deputy Chief Minister attended the pension distribution event in Gollaprolu of the Kakinada district and distributed pensions to many beneficiaries.

After distributing, Pawan Kalyan addressed the gathering and said, “I have taken on very critical departments. I want to talk less and work more. I don’t even know how many thousands of crores of debt there are in the Panchayati Raj Department. I can’t figure out under which head these debts are listed. Sitting for four hours in each section reveals how many crores have been lost. In 20 years, I never sat for an hour in my accounts. Now, sitting for four to five hours in each section makes me probe where the people’s money is going. I once thought of taking my salary and working but seeing these funds I feel that I shouldn’t take it. I do not need a salary. I will work for my country, for my land.”

He also announced that he was ready to work without wages as there is hardly any money in his departments, and thus he would appreciate Pawan Kalyan’s gesture. Everybody is appreciating him for serving the state selflessly without demanding a single paisa from the government.
